Albert Bernard Campbell, 87, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at his residence in Collins, MS. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at Williamsburg United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. -3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Reverend Rodney Duke, Reverend Stan Lobin and Reverend Bob Lytle will officiate at the service with interment to follow at the Williamsburg United Methodist Cemetery with Masonic and Military rites. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Campbell Anderson, Donnie Anderson, Neal Campbell, Derrell Daniel, Karson Evans, Mitch Evans, Taylor Kimble, Jesse Russell, Scott Russell, Lynn Smith and Chris Sumrall. Honorary pallbearers will be Glynn Daniel, Homer Daniel, Bob Faler, Boots Hughes, Don Mooney, Carlton McRaney, Mike McQueen, John Laz Sanford, Charlie Yates and the Men of WUMC.
Mr. Campbell, a Covington County native, proudly served in the United States Army. He was a carpenter, a farmer and a rural mail carrier for 35 years. He was a proud recipient of the "Million Mile Award" for delivering the U.S. Mail to citizens of Covington County accident free. After retiring from the postal service, he served as a bailiff for Circuit Court Judges Bob Evans and Eddie Bowen. During his life he was a member of the Collins Jaycee's, Masonic Lodge #34 and served as a Board of Director for Covington County Hospital. He was a lifetime member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, V. O. Campbell, Sr. & Lela Pickering Campbell; step mother, Annie Lois Campbell; three brothers, Otis Keith Campbell, Travis Lynwood Campbell, George Randall Campbell; one sister, Maxine Aultman; and a son-in-law, Bud Matthews.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Doris Coulter Campbell of Collins; three daughters, Kay Smith (Lynn) of Collins, Debbie Matthews of New Augusta, and Janet Anderson (Donnie) of Forney, TX; two brothers, Herman Campbell (Annie Ruth) and V.O. Campbell, Jr. ( Patti) both of Collins; two sisters, Roanoke McDonald (Carl) of Ridgeland and Jan Franks of Germantown, TN; two sisters-in-law, Jerri Lynn Campbell of Hattiesburg and Lillie Mae Campbell of Helena, AL; six grandchildren, Heidi Russell (Scott), Terah Evans (Mitch), Taylor Kimble (Nikki), Ashton Sumrall (Chris), Darby Anderson and Campbell Anderson. Five great grandchildren, Josie Russell, Karson Evans, Jesse Russell, Dylan Sumrall and Devyn Sumrall; and a host of nieces and nephews.
