Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, July 22, 2024 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Archie LaRue Mooney, 82 of Seminary, who passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS.
Brother Blake Ellis and Brother Glenn Shoemake will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Crosby Cemetery in Seminary with military rites at graveside. Special music will be provided by Jimmy Davis, Larry Davis, Don McQueen, and Coy Sanderford. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
The Family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Highway 49, Collins, MS.
Pallbearers will be Randy Bradley, Curt Ellis, James Sanford, Greg Crosby, Lane Crosby, and Tim Herring. Honorary pallbearers will be Caleb Mooney, Billy Harrell, Jeff Brock, Joshua Crosby, and Dakota Brock.
Mr. Mooney was born on June 13, 1942 in Seminary, Mississippi to Archie Mooney and Ruby Lowery Mooney Wade. He was an over the road truck driver for over sixty-five years. Mr. Mooney was a loving husband, father, brother, and uncle. He was a member of the Longview Missionary Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his father, Archie Mooney; his mother, Ruby Lowery Mooney Wade; one brother, James B. Mooney; two nephews, Wade Herring and James; one great nephew, Knox Brock; three sisters-in-law, Kimberly, Marketta, and Doris; and three brothers-in-law, Ellis, Howard, and Perry
Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Gloria Crosby Mooney of Seminary, MS; one son, Caleb Mooney of Seminary, MS; one daughter, Haley Mooney of Seminary, MS; three sisters, Vickie Harrell (Billy) and Maxine Anderson, all of Seminary, MS and Teresa Herring (Tim) of Beaumont, MS; five sisters-in-law, Patsy Mooney, Joyce Brady (Lemuel), Betty Sanford, Linnie Keys, and Sheryl Conerly; a brother-in-law, Toxie Crosby (Paulette); and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members..
