Obituary

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2021 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Barbara Norris Gingrich, 83 of Seminary, who passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the Magee General Hospital in Magee.

Dr. Barry Armstrong and Reverend Henry Freeman will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Union South Baptist Church Cemetery in Seminary.  Special music will be provided by Phillip and Lynn Butler.  Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2021 and from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Monday, January 18, 2021 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Michael Burns, Jeremy Kirkland, Benjamin Kirkland, Kyler Burns, Alex Kirkland, and Drew Kirkland.  Honorary pallbearers will be Zeke Carter, Zach Carter, Remi Burns, and Parker Kirkland.

Mrs. Gingrich was born on April 22, 1937 in Seminary, Mississippi to Thomas Seborn Norris and Minnie Vera Hilton Norris.  She was a loving wife, mother, mawmaw, and sister.  Mrs. Gingrich was a homemaker by trade.  She was a member of the Union South Baptist Church in Seminary.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Charles Maniafred Gingrich; her parents, Thomas Seborn Norris and Minnie Vera Hilton Norris; one son, Charles Edward Gingrich; one daughter, Marianne Gingrich Speed; two sons-in-law, Curtis Burns and Larry Speed; a great-grandson, Will Carter; three brothers, Glenn Norris, Randolph Norris, and Shelby Norris; six sisters, Eva Dean Norris, Hazel Norris Brooks, Lucille Norris Beasley, Evelyn Norris Ramsey, Bertille Norris Kahler, and Faye Norris Harrison.

Survivors include one son, Roger Gingrich, and his wife, Patricia of Seminary; three daughters, Myra Gingrich Lott, and her husband, Hal of Sumrall, Janet Gingrich Kirkland, and her husband, Ricky of Petal, and Carlena Speed Foster, and her husband, Michael of Ridgefield, Washington; seven grandchildren, Serena Burns Lindley (Bryan), Michael Burns, Markell Gingrich Carter (Chip), Avangelia  Kirkland Davis (Dustin), Jeremy Kirkland (Kinsley), Benjamin Kirkland, Joy Katheryn Foster; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Dessaree Norris Nicholas, and her husband, Gilmore of Seminary; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
