Barbara Darden Harvey

(February 9, 1951 – September 29, 2020)

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Mize for Barbara Darden Harvey, 69 of Mount Olive, Mississippi, who passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at her residence.

Reverend Josh Hollingsworth will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.  Special music will be provided by Missy Booth.  Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mount Olive will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 5:30 pm until 9:00 pm at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mt. Olive.  The funeral home will abide by the statues set forth by the Governor of Mississippi about wearing masks and social distancing.

Pallbearers will be Samuel Howell, Matthew Stewart, Sherrard Blackwell, Zack Toney, Robbie Blackwell, and Todd Blackwell.  Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Eubanks, Trent Harvey, Tristan Harvey, Payce Hall, John Ponder, Joe Ponder, Jesse Ponder, and Johnny Ponder.

Mrs. Harvey was born on Friday, February 9, 1951 in Magee, Mississippi.  She was the daughter of William Jackson Darden and Rosalie Warren Darden, and the youngest of their six children.  Mrs. Harvey was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.  She retired after numerous years of service as a factory worker at Warmkraft, Inc. in Taylorville.  Mrs. Harvey was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Jackson Darden and Rosalie Warren Darden; a sister, Vondell Darden Lee; and a brother, Johnny Mack Darden.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-two years, Tolson James Harvey of Mount Olive; two daughters, Michelle Harvey Revette and Tippy Harvey Ponder, and her husband Joe , all of Mount Olive; one son, James Harvey, and his wife Kimberly of Mount Olive; two brothers, David Darden and Leon Darden, both of Mize; one sister, Carolyn Darden Rigney of Prentiss; eight grandchildren, Michael Hall, Mason Hall, Chelsie Ponder, John Ponder, Joe Ponder, Jesse Ponder, Amber Ponder, and Johnny Ponder; eight great-grandchildren, Weston Hall, Braylee Hall, Kelsey Hall, Joycee Hall, Payce Hall, Trinnity Harvey, Trent Harvey, and Tristan Harvey; and a host of nieces and nephews.
