Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Barbara Knotts Mooney, 76 of Seminary, who passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at her son's residence in Seminary.
Reverend Dennis Campbell, Mr. Paul Johnson, and Dr. Barry Armstrong will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Union South Baptist Church Cemetery in Seminary. Special music will be provided by Mr. Jeremy Johnson and Mr. Noah Sanford. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.
Pallbearers will be Robert Ashworth, John Kitchens, Zackary Knotts, Alexander Knight, Robert Thompson, Ricky Runnels, Robbie Runnels, Hunter Pates, and Zane Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be Bodie Johnson, Claude Graves, Jeremy Johnson, and Jonathan Morgan.
Mrs. Mooney was born on May 22, 1945 in Collins, Mississippi to Julius W. and Rosa Lee Bates Knotts. She was one of fourteen children. Mrs. Mooney was a loving wife, mother, and maw-maw. She retired after numerous years of service as a private nurse's aide. She was a member of the Union South Baptist Church in Seminary. Mrs. Mooney was loved by all that knew her and she will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest M. Mooney and Lyndle J. Morgan; her parents, Julius W. and Rosa Lee Bates Knotts; one sister, Frances Knotts; and three brothers, Carl D. Knotts, Mack Knotts, and Julius "Squeaky" Knotts.
Survivors include her six children, Gelinda Johnson, and her husband, Bodie of Glendale, Jessie Morgan, and his wife, Jennifer of Seminary, Mytilda Odom, and her husband, Charlie of New Augusta, David Morgan of Seminary, Penelope (Penny) Sasser, and her husband, Ricky of Seminary, and Jonathan Morgan, and his wife, Rachell of Seminary; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Knotts of Ellisville and Darrell "Buck" Knotts of Seminary; seven sisters, Doris Herrington of Glade, Margaret Estelle Little, Clara Mae Revis and Audrey Nell Cromwell, all of Magee, Mary Carol Thompson and Susan Faye Russell, both of Seminary, and Sally Ann Knotts of Soso; and a host of nieces and nephews.
