Obituary

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Salem Baptist Church in Collins for Barbara Ann West Davis, of Collins, who passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.


Reverend Dennis Campbell, Reverend Neal Davis, and Mr. Jordan Parker will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Double Churches Cemetery in Jefferson Davis County. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Lynn Butler, Mrs. Babette Duty, and Mr. Philip Butler. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the Salem Baptist Church in Collins, and will continue there on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Paul Parker, Bryan Parker, Jordan Parker, Blake Davis, Ricky Davis, Dickie Davis, Michael Davis, and Richard West.

Ann, a Jones County native, was a loving wife, mother, and nana. She graduated from Jones County Junior College in 1971 with a degree in nursing. Ann devoted her life to helping others. She was passionate about patient rights and an advocate for compassionate care and quality of life for all of her patients. Ann retired as the Nursing Director of the Covington County Home Health after fifteen years of service. She was a devoted member of the Salem Baptist Church in Collins. Ann held strong Christian convictions and walked her faith daily

Ann was known for her great beauty and timeless grace. She was the definition of southern charm and was well-known for her generosity. Ann was also known for being honest, straight forward, and when the circumstances called for it, very opinionated. When friends reminisce about her, they remark that she was always a "straight shooter" and "if you didn't want the truth, you best not ask Ann. She was loved by her friends and family alike and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Sharpe West and Lena Anderson West.

Survivors include her husband of forty-four years, Sammy Davis of Collins; one daughter, Chona Davis Parker and her husband, Paul of Yazoo City; three sons, Jeff Davis and his wife, Shelley of Laurel, Mark Davis and his wife, Kayla of Meadville, and Kyle Davis and his wife, Laura of Collins; two sisters, Janelle Jordan and her husband, Wade of Petal, and Phyllis Locke and her husband, John of Picayune; two brothers, Jerry West and his wife, Deborah, and Ray West, and his wife, Janette, all of Richton; ten grandchildren, Jaren Parker, Bryan Parker, Jordan Parker, Anna Catherine Parker, Blake Davis, Emily Davis, Tharyn Davis, Sam Paxton Davis, Reagan Davis, and Rowan Davis; two great-grandchildren, Finn Parker and Elina Parker; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
