Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home for Betty Jean Holifield Dykes, 82 of Collins, who passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at her residence.
Reverend Joseph Bird will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Collins City Cemetery. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Dianne Speed and Mrs. Babette Duty. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Holden Dykes, II, Jim Shows, Wayne Blakney, Bob Shoemake, Neal Campbell, and Glenn Madden.
Mrs. Dykes was born on November 4, 1934 in the Summerland, Mississippi. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Mrs. Dykes was a member of the First Baptist Church of Collins. She was an avid bridge player and a member of the Fifth Wednesday Bridge Club and the Duplicate Bridge Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest H. Holifield and Lennie Dora Moore Holifield; her husband, Bobby Joe Dykes; and one sister, Annie Sue Shows.
Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Jo "Deb" Dykes Harvison and her husband, Scotty of Hattiesburg; one son, Robert Holden "Bob" Dykes and his wife, Donna of Collins; two sisters, Daisy Dean Holifield Blakney of Taylorsville, and Lennie Ruth Holifield Coburn of Gainesville, Florida; one sister-in-law, Deloris Dykes Welch of Soso; four grandchildren, Britni Alona Harvison, Ramsey Danielle Dykes, Reagan Elise Dykes, and Holden Dykes, II; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
