Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins for Betty Lowery Pickering, 83 of Florence and formerly of Collins, who passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at the Magnolia Place Retirement Home in Sumrall.
Reverend John Patterson and Dr. Joseph Bird will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Mrs. Pickering was born on February 5, 1937 in Collins, Mississippi to Frank Lowery and Willie Lou Baggett Lowery. She was a graduate of the Collins High School Class of 1955. Mrs. Pickering was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Collins. She was very active with the youth and in mission work.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Lowery and Willie Lou Baggett Lowery; and two brothers, Joe Lowery and James Harold Lowery.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-five years, Pat H. Pickering Sr. of Florence; seven children, Pat Herb Pickering Jr. of Harrisville, Debbie Pickering Barron, and her husband, Charles of Florence, Tim Pickering, and his wife, Linda of Jackson, Lance Pickering, and his wife, Tammy of Jackson, Dara Pickering Saucier, and her husband, Bram of Collins, Stephanie Pickering McAlpin of Florence, Jennifer Pickering Warriner, and her husband, Rick of Clinton; one brother, Johnny Lowery and his wife Diane Ange of Whitehouse, Tennessee; a sister-in-law, Beth Lowery of Collins; twenty-six grandchildren; twenty-five great –grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
