Obituary

Catherine Marie Robertson Graves

Catherine Marie Robertson Graves, daughter of Doc and Dorothy Robertson, was born in Harrisonburg, Louisiana, October 19, 1947. She was married to her sweetheart of 53 years November 19, 1966, Jimmie Dell Graves. From that union were born five children.

Maw Maw as we all affectionally called her, attended Sweetwater Pentecostal Tabernacle of Moselle, Mississippi. When her children were in school in Boothville-Venice, Louisiana she was a substitute teacher and president of the PTO - Parent Teacher Organization. Upon moving to Mississippi, she trained and became a Certified Nursing Assistant, then later was part of founding Pentecostal Tabernacle Christian Academy where she became the school mom to all that would join.

Maw Maw was preceded in death by her parents Doc & Dorothy Robertson, her husband, JD Graves, brothers Vernon "Reese" Robertson, James "Buster" Robertson, Billy Dock Robertson, Larry Robertson; sisters, Ida Mae Robertson Spillmon, Shirley Robertson Nugent, Dolly Robertson Osborn, and one grandson, Chaztin Jayke Ellzey. Her life will forever be cherished in the lives of her brothers, Roy Robertson and Carter Robertson both of Turkey Creek in Wisner, Louisiana, her children, Jimmie "Beau" Graves, Jr (wife Floy) of Brandon, Mississippi, Cathy "Cissy" Ellzey (husband Marlon) of Seminary, Mississippi, Tina Ellzey (husband Robert) of Seminary, Mississippi, Melissa Pullen (husband Shannon) of Collins, Mississippi, Amanda Sherrill (husband Jeremy) of Ironton, Ohio. Her characteristics and traits will live on through her 25 grandchildren for she treated those who her grandchildren married as her own, 25 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Maw Maw lived her life to the fullest. She was born with "go" in her blood. As a young girl, you could find her in a boat fishing on the Tenses or Ouachita Rivers; she learned to drive on a stick shift pickup; she has visited every state of our fifty with the exception of only 14. Her girls tried to number her cruises, but they were too many to recount. But saying she has visited 19 port of calls with only two of those in the United States would let you know she has ventured to many foreign soils, and she loved every minute of it. Spending her days fishing at Turkey Creek was among her favorite pass times; road trips with her girls and friends were like Heaven on earth for her. A house full of children and grandchildren kept a smile on her face and was what her last memories on earth will be.
