Obituary

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. om Monday, March 8, 2021 at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mount Olive for Charles Louis Harrison, 88, of Mount Olive, who passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at the Covington Count Hospital.

Brother Reece Douglas, Jr. will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Rutland Cemetery in Mount Olive with military rites at graveside.  Special music will be provided by Paige Harvey, Cody Harvey, and Shad Harvey.  Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mount Olive will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday, March 8, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. until service time at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mount Olive.

Pallbearers will be Shad Harvey, Cody Harvey, Terry Smith, Timothy Seger, Grant Harrison, and Josh Harrison.  Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Harrison, Billy Harrison, Charles Ray Harrison, and Paul Smith.

Mr. Harrison was born on Monday, September 19, 1932 in Ellisville, Mississippi to William Tell Harrison and Lela Mae Shoemake Harrison.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.  Mr. Harrison retired from Georgia Pacific, Inc. after thirty-years of service as a lay operator.    He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  Mr. Harrison was a member of the Sunshine Baptist Church in Mount Olive.

Mr. Harrison and his late wife, Willie Merle, were both loyal supporters of the Mount Olive Pirates.  He worked the chains at the football games for over thirty years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Merle Tew Harrison; his parents, William Tell Harrison and Lela Mae Shoemake Harrison; a daughter, Terry Harrison; a sister, Nell Harrison Creel; and three brothers, Norman Harrison, W.T. Harrison, Jr., and B.J. Harrison.

Survivors include two sons, Eric Harrison and Tim Harrison, both of Mount Olive; three grandchildren, Chris Harrison (Michelle), Josh Harrison, and Lacon Harrison (Ashley); five great-grandchildren, Karlee Harrison, Ryleigh Harrison, Madison Swales, Abby Swales, and Trey Swales; one sister, Hazelene Harrison Chumney of Auburndale, Florida; a brother-in-law, Hershel Tew of Mount Olive, and a host of nieces and nephews.
