Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Mize First Baptist Church for Charles Ray Lee, 86 of Mize, who passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Brother Tony Keys, Brother Vern Blackwell, and Mr. Ramon Johnston will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Mize Cemetery in Mize. Special music will be provided by Mr. David Ward and Miss Raelyn Lee. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, and from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Mize First Baptist Church, 607 Oak Street, Mize, Mississippi, 39116.
His pallbearers will be Mason Yeager, Drew Yeager, Rogie Sullivan, Cory Lee, Chase Lee, and Noah Guillen. Honorary pallbearers will be Laura Alice Lee, Lydia Grace Lee, Raelyn Lee, Lucy Kate Lee, Avianna Lee, David Sullivan, Coach Kenny Robinson, Coach Zack McKee, Clyde Magee, Paul Cockrell, Jay Arrington, Reed Howell, Gerald Vance, and Jimmy Hall.
Coach Lee or Doc, as he was affectionally called, was born on August 7, 1939, in Mount Olive, Mississippi to Robert Morris Lee and Vera Jordan Lee. He graduated from Mount High School Class of 1957 and went on to further his education at Jones County Junior College in Ellisville. Coach Lee earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Mississippi State University in 1961. He retired from the Smith County School District after thirty-one and a half years of service as an agricultural teacher, football, basketball, and track coach. He led the Mize Bulldogs to two championship games in 1988 and 1995. Coach Lee received the honor of being admitted to the Mississippi Association of Coaches Hall of Fame in 2005. He was a member and deacon at Mize First Baptist Church. Coach Lee was an avid supporter of the Mize Bulldogs in football, basketball and track meets. He enjoyed playing golf at the Okatoma Golf Course and earned the title of golf pro. Coach Lee was a loving husband, father, and pawpaw and will be dearly missed by his family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Robert Morris Lee and Vera Jordan Lee; one brother, Jimmy Dale Lee; and a granddaughter, Emily Elizabeth McKissack.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Virginia Sartin Lee of Mize; two sons, Chuck Lee, and his wife, Tanya of Mize, and Chris Lee, and his wife, Chandy of Jackson; one daughter, Jane Lee McKissack, and her husband Joe of Mize; one sister, Sandra Lee Sullivan of Mount Olive; six grandchildren, Mason (Mara) Yeager, Drew (Gyeonga) Yeager, Laura Alice Lee, Lydia Grace Lee, Lucy Kate Lee, Raelynn Lee, and Avianna Lee; one great-grandchild, Dominic Yeager; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
The family wishes to express their gratitude and love to Gentiva Hospice Care, and his caretakers, Mary McKissack and Lefty Madden, for their excellent care and compassion shown to him during his illness.
