Charles V. McGlocklin

(May 15, 1939 – December 6, 2023)

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Charles V. McGlocklin, 84 of Collins, who passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

.         Reverend Dennis Campbell, Reverend David McNeil, and Reverend Glenn Shoeamake will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins.  Special music will be provided by Mrs. Donna Campbell and Mr. Dylan Thomas.  Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until 2:30 pm on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Highway 49, Collins, Mississippi.

Pallbearers will be Darren Campbell, Kyle Davis, Shannon Breazeale, Dylan Thomas, Matt Fortenberry, and Lane Creel.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Steele, Ben Beasley, Dave Bender, Evan McGlocklin, and Layton Creel.

Charles was born on May 15, 1939 in Levelland, Texas to V.L. and Frances Ogden McGlocklin.  He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. He retired from the Southern Baptist Convention Book Store after thirty years of service as a manager.  Charles married Mary Jane McQueen McGlocklin and they resided in Collins where they raised their three children, Timothy, Kelly, and Leigh.  He was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  Charles was an active member of the Salem Baptist Church.  He served his church as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and former music director.  Charles proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vesta Lee McGlocklin and Frances Ogden McGlocklin; his daughter, Patricia Leigh McGlocklin Maddox; a grandson, Zachary Lee McGlocklin; and one brother, Richard McGlocklin.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Jane McQueen McQueen McGlocklin of Collins; two sons, Timothy McGlocklin of Collins and Kelly McGlocklin of Purvis;  six grandchildren, Alisa McGlocklin Thomas (Dylan), Chase McGlocklin, Victoria Maddox Fortenberry (Matt), Summer McGlocklin, Ellie McGlocklin, and Evan McGlocklin;  seven great-grandchildren, Lane Creel, Layton Creel, Mila Thomas, Nevaeh Massengale,  Landon McGlocklin, Lawson Thomas, and Anna Leigh Fortenberry; and a host of nieces and nephews.
