Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Charles Mike Pickering, 69 of Seminary, who passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018 at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Collins.
Reverend Glenn Shoemake, Dr. Timothy Hubbard, and Mr. James Phillips will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Crosby Cemetery in Seminary. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Melanie Hubbard and Mrs. Shannon Napier. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.
Pallbearers will be Jackson Bryant, John Corbet Pickering, Bob Smith, Mack Lowery, Kenny Joe Pickering, and Charles Monroe Mooney. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Ray Pickering and Larry Revette.
Mr. Pickering was born on September 19, 1949 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Mike proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After the war he was employed by several trucking companies as a semi-truck driver with an excellent safety record. During his four year residency at the Mississippi State Veterans Home he was loved by the resident and staff where he made many new friends. Mike was a member of the Seminary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Ray Pickering.
Survivors include his mother, Bobbie Breazeale Pickering of Seminary; his children, Steve Bryant (Kadie) of Seminary, Shannon Napier (Craig) of Collins, Dusty Bryant (Candace) of Montgomery, Texas, Jessica Mills (Mike) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Megan Bialas of Denver, Colorado; one brother, Billy Ray Pickering of Seminary; one sister, Jean Pickering Phillips of Hattiesburg; ten grandchildren, Jackson Bryant, Adele Bryant, Haley Napier, Laken Napier, Noah Napier, Marli Bryant, Chloe Bryant, Riley Bryant, Micah Mills, and Soren Bialas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Veterans Outreach Program, 15 Pritchett Drive, Collins, Mississippi, 39428
