Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Charlie A. Gentry, 79 of Mount Olive, who passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the University Medical Center in Jackson.
Brother Lavon Taylor and Brother Reese Douglas, Jr. will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the New Liberty Landmark Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Mount Olive. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Jennifer Sasser and Mr. Jerry Williamson. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.
Pallbearers will be Nick Daley, Larry Daley, Robert Chachere, Will Briscoe, Wes Briscoe, and James Wade. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Rivers, Jimmy Lowery, and Kyle Jones.
Mr. Gentry was born on May 10, 1938 in Mount Olive, Mississippi. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Gentry retired from Southern Pine Electric as a foreman after forty two years of service. He was a member of the New Liberty Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Gentry was an avid golfer and outdoorsman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Sarah Betty Bond Gentry; a son-in-law, Kyle Briscoe; a sister, Jessie Lee Gentry Wade; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Sanford Rivers.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Elaine Sanford Gentry of Mount Olive; three daughters, Shelia Gentry, and her husband, Robert Chachere of Metairie, Louisiana, Tammy Gentry Briscoe of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana, and Hope Gentry Daley, and her husband, Larry of Carson; one brother, Jimmy Gentry and his wife, Gaynell of Philadelphia; two sisters-in-law, Betty Stubbs and Jerry Sue Jones and her husband, Henry , all of Collins; five grandchildren, Nick Daley and his wife Brooke, Megan Briscoe, Will Briscoe, Wes Briscoe, and Natalie Daley; one great-grandchild, Taylor Daughdrill; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
