Obituary

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2019 at the Bullock Cemetery in Seminary for Clovis S. Rowell, 80 of Seminary, who passed away on Friday, September 20, 2019.

Elder Joe Lott will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Bullock Cemetery in Seminary.  Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends.

Mr. Rowell was born February 16, 1939.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  Mr. Rowell retired from D. & E. Trucking (Orleans Furniture) in Columbia after thirty seven years of service as a truck driver.  He was a United States Marine Corp. veteran.  As a life-long resident of Covington County, he enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.  Mr. Rowell was a member of the Sanford Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-six years, Mamie Lee Magee Rowell; his parents, Robert "Bob" Rowell and Carrie Lee Davis Rowell; and eight siblings, Hansel Rowell, Carl Rowell, R.C. Rowell, Bonnie Jean Rowell Swartz, Annie Laura Rowell, Elizabeth Rowell Kelly, John Pershing Rowell, and Anthea Lee Rowell.

Survivors include two daughters, June Rowell Owens of Seminary, and Kimberly Knight-Clark (Michael) of Portland, Oregon; one brother, Royce Rowell of Seminary; one grandson, Dustin Owens (Kala S.) of Seminary; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
