Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the Station Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Collins for Debra Gail "Debbie" McLaurin, 68 of Collins, who passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the Covington County Hospital in Collins, Mississippi.
Brother Eddie Hartfield and Brother Steve Ellis will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Station Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins. Special music will be provided by Kenzie Kirkland, Britton Kirkland, Mason Yawn, and Brother Eddie Hartfield. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive guests from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the Station Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 581 Station Creek Road, Collins, Mississippi.
The pallbearers will be Daniel Ainsworth, Michael Ainsworth, Cole Ainsworth, Justin Corley, Jerry "Mac" McLaurin, and Nathan Craft. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Kirkland, Jason Harvey, Michael Speed, Jay Cameron, Brad Woods, Robert Aultman, Ikey McQueen, Russell Dickinson, Jonathan "Hook" Sanford, and Scott White.
Mrs. McLaurin was born on August 4, 1956, in Taylorsville, Mississippi, to Ernest and Gloria Dean Wade Ainsworth. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Mrs. McLaurin worked as a floral designer at Southern Florist & Gifts for many years before her retirement. She was an active member of the Station Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Collins.
Mrs. McLaurin, affectionately known as Mama D, to her family members and friends. She made family holidays and get-togethers very special with her home cooked meals and family games. She enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and gardener. She had a competitive streak in her when it came to killing the biggest buck. Mrs. McLaurin loved spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren, she was very creative and full of adventure. Her laugh was contagious especially when she was tickled, and you were always welcomed with a smile and hug. She was loved by everyone that knew her and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Gloria Dean Wade Ainsworth.
Survivors include her beloved husband of fifty-one years, Wayne McLaurin of Collins; two daughters, Brandy McLaurin Pope (Steed) of Collins, and Tira McLaurin Sokovich (Jeremy) of Sumrall; one son, Layne McLaurin (Anna) of Seminary; one brother, Mike Ainsworth of Collins; one sister, Dede Corley (David) of Gilmer, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Diane McQueen (Mike) of Collins, MS and Judy Meador (John) of Hattiesburg; eight grandchildren, Dillon Douglas, Carmen Douglas (Logan), Layden McLaurin (Kenzie), Avery McLaurin, Chale Sokovich, Laila Sokovich, Zach Pope (Anna), and Haylee Pope; four great-grandchildren, Brooks McLaurin, Baylor McLaurin, Pace Ranes, and Hollyn Pope; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and church loved ones.
