Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Don Winston Rutland, 80 of Ridgeland, who passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at the Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, MS.
Reverend Brooks Porter and Mr. Larry Rutland will officiate at the services with interment to follow at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 in the Parkway Memorial Cemetery, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, Mississippi, 39157. Special music will be provided by Darlene and Ronnie Thompson. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Hwy 49, Collins, Mississippi.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.
Mr. Rutland was born on October 7, 1942, in Collins, Mississippi to Billy and Ruby Clark Rutland. He graduated from the Collins High School Class of 1961 and received an Associate of Arts degree in Mechanical Drafting from Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Mr. Rutland retired from HeavyQuip Equipment Supplier in Pearl as a vice president after forty-plus years of service. He was a member of the Baptist faith. Mr. Rutland served his country in the National Guard for many years. He was a loving husband, brother, and uncle and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ruby Clark Rutland; and one sister, Betty Rutland Groebe.
Survivors include his wife of 55 Years, Lois Aultman Rutland of Ridgeland, MS; two brothers, James F. Rutland of Biloxi, Ms., and Larry Rutland (Judy) of Cumming, GA; two sisters, Billie Rutland Spight of Greenville, MS, and Shelby Rutland Williamson (Butch) of Biloxi, MS; a sister-in-law, Janell Aultman Langford (Charles) of Collins, MS; twenty-two nieces and nephews; and a host of great nieces and great nephews.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Asbury Hospice House, 304 South 40th Avenue, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, 39402 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105.
