Obituary

Doris Edna Coleman Ellzey, loving wife, mother, sister, and Mimme as she was so affectionally called was born January 16, 1945, passed from this life at Merit Health Wesley Friday night, January 8, 2021.

Mrs. Ellzey is survived by her husband, John D. Ellzey, of almost 54 years, sons Marlon (Cissy) and Robert (Tina) all of Seminary, Mississippi, grandchildren, Cayla (Phil), Drey (Shelby), Drew (Courtney), Forres (Courtney), and Austin (Allison) all from Mississippi, great grandchildren, Caylan, Ashlan, Jaylan, Landon, Aubrey, Landrey, Stormy, Melah, Aidan, and Asher.  She is also survived by two brothers, J. P. Coleman (Jean) and Eddie Coleman (Virginia), four sisters, Hazel Bass (Harold), Jewell, Joyce and Connie and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lessie and Jim Ed Coleman, grandson, Chaztin Jayke Ellzey, two sisters, Yvone Kitchens and Jimmie Marie Coleman, three brothers in law, Ernest Byrd, Don Carey and David Graham.

Mrs. Ellzey was a member of Sweetwater Pentecostal Tabernacle of Moselle, Mississippi. She loved her family deeply and cherished her time outdoors.  You would find her cutting her own grass, weeding her flower beds and moving flowers around the yard more often than the family can remember.

She was a tremendous cook and baker, and we find that her love for cooking lives on in her grandson, Drew and the baking in her great grand daughter, Ashlan which has resulted in an entrepreneurship, Desserts-by-Ashlan.  She's even shared her biscuit baking techniques with Ashlan and Landon.  At canning time you would see her with the grands and greats shelling peas and assisting with the canning process.  She made what we adults know is a tasking job, a fun activity for the little ones.

Celebration of Life will be held at Sweetwater Pentecostal Tabernacle, 7 Tom Rainey Rd, Moselle, Mississippi, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2021 with Senior Pastor, Shannon Pullen, Pastor, Channing Pullen and Phil Hickman, ministers, music and singing provided by Courtney Ellzey, Shelby Ellzey, Cayla Hickman and Kayla Pullen.
