Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Doris Jeanette McDonald, 70, of Mount Olive, who passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
Bro. Joe Lott, Bro. Reece Douglas, Jr., Bro. Jason Matheny, and Bro. Steven Webb will officiate the services with interment to follow in Springhill Cemetery in Collins. Special music will be provided by the Matheny Family. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3302 Hwy 49, Collins, Mississippi.
Pallbearers will be Todd Aultman, Tommy Lowery, Christian Pruett, Chris Matheny, Mac Grant, Lake Grant, and Jeremy Stuckey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Steele, Joseph McDonald, Charlie Powell, Nathaniel Webb, Noah Webb, and Nicholas Webb.
Doris was born on October 3, 1951, to James Charles and Ruby Mae Holbrook Matheny. She grew up in Sumrall, where she graduated high school. She worked at the Hattiesburg American paper for 12 years. She was a member of Blakeney Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing and serving others, and she will be remembered for her unique laugh. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Prine; father, James Charles Matheny; mother, Ruby Mae Holbrook Matheny; brother, Jan Matheny; and brother-in-law, Thomas Lowery.
Survivors include her husband of 16 years, Tony McDonald of Mount Olive, MS; sons, Casey Prine (Tonya) of Sumrall, MS and Joseph McDonald (Amy) of Mobile, AL; daughters, Candy Graves Steele (Curtis) of Mount Calm, TX and Angie Holifield (Lance) of Mize, MS; grandchildren, Mac Grant (Kelcie), Lake Grant (Monica), Jeremy Stuckey, Sabrina Stuckey (Ti), Carrigan Prine, John Riley Holifield, Landon Holifield, and Timber Steele; three great grandchildren; and two sisters, Jill Aultman (Paul) and Ann Lowery.
