Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Doris Patricia White Merchant, 83 of Pearl, who passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025, at the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
Reverend Johnny Sanders will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Ora Cemetery in Collins. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive guests from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Highway 49, Collins, Mississippi.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Merchant, Benjie Merchant, Chase Sullivan, Robby Sullivan, Marshall Cooper, and Adam Thompson. Honorary pallbearer will be Austin Sullivan.
Doris was married to Doug Merchant for forty-six years at the time of his death. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed being with family and spending her Friday nights cheering for Doug and his team. Doris and Doug were high school sweethearts and their first date was homecoming night in 1960 when she was crowned The Homecoming Queen for Collins High School. She was raised in Covington County by her loving parents who taught her to always see the good in everyone. Doris will be missed by all her family and friends, especially her daughter and best friend, Leia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Merchant; one daughter, Darling Merchant Sullivan; her parents; J.W. White and Ruby Lee Gentry White; one brother, Don White; and her mother-in-law, Hester Merchant.
Survivors include her daughter, Leia Merchant Cooper (Marshall) of Pearl, grandchildren, Chase Sullivan of Mount Olive and Brandi Sullivan of Mount Olive; great grandchildren, Austin Sullivan and Lauren Sullivan.
