Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Dorothy Magee, 82, of Collins, who passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023, at University Medical Center in Jackson, MS.
Reverend Danny Forrest will officiate the services with interment to follow in the Collins City Cemetery in Collins. Music will be provided by Mr. Guylon Gregory, Mrs. Christy Forrest, and Mrs. LaDonna Wise. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3302 Hwy 49, Collins, Mississippi.
Pallbearers will be Bo Magee, Clay Magee, Malachi Magee, Ronnie Todd, Bryan Benson, and Mike Smith. The Mexican Domino Ladies will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Dorothy was born in Covington County, Mississippi, on June 28, 1940, to Fred and Eula Jones. She graduated from Collins High School and lived in Collins for the majority of her life. A long-time cafeteria worker at Collins Middle School, she is remembered for her cooking and her desire to serve people. She was a member of Lone Star Baptist Church and specifically enjoyed planting flowers. She was a loving wife, mother, and "Mawmaw Dot", and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jeff Magee; parents, Fred and Eula Bass Jones; daughter, Tammie Todd; grandson, Zachary Benson; three brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include her children, Jeffery Magee (Tanya) of Collins, Moria Smith (Mike) of Petal, Shelbie Benson (Bryan) of Collins; son-in-law, Ronnie Todd of Collins; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
