Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mount Olive, Mississippi, for Dorothy Mae Keene, 88, of Mount Olive, Mississippi, who passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at the Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 205 South 4th Street, Mount Olive, Mississippi. Interment will be in Jesus Name Holy Hill Cemetery in Mount Olive, Mississippi. Pastor Michael Miller will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mount Olive is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031
Ms. Keene was born Sunday, September 23, 1934, in Magee, Mississippi. She attended Mount Olive High School, and she worked at Universal Transformer Manufacturing Plant for over 25 years. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, and she is fondly remembered for her blunt sense of humor. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew who her, and she will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her son, Harlon Keene; daughter, Brenda Parrett; father, Branford McKinley; mother, Maggie Dennis McKinley; brother, Odell McKinley; sister, Doris Wallace; grandson, Richard Bond; granddaughter, Betty Bynum; and son-in-law, Robert Parrett, Sr..
Survivors include her son, Charles Keene, Sr. (Mary) of Mount Olive; grandsons, Robert "Jeff" Parrett, Jr. (Monica) of Mount Olive, Chris Keene (Brenda) of Collins and Charles Keene, Jr. (Anah) of Mount Olive; granddaughters, Debra Bond of Mount Olive, Becky Rutland (Ross) of Mount Olive and Kathy Rawls (Scott) of Ellisville; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Harold Caves, Harrison Caves, Willie Caves, Bodie Caves, Scottie McMahan, and Bob Powell.
