Dorothy Faye Kennedy Robertson, known affectionately as Faye, was born on April 30, 1940, in the Coldwater community near Philadelphia, MS. She was the youngest of five girls and five boys.
Faye attended Coldwater School and later graduated from Philadelphia High School, where she participated in basketball and cheerleading. Her fondest memories were spending time with her lifelong friend, Lib Smith Hill, attending events like the Choctaw Indian Fair and the Neshoba County Fair.
After graduation, Faye began her career with South Central Bell as a switchboard operator. During her time there, she met her husband of 47 years. In 1965, they welcomed their first child, and Faye transitioned into her most cherished role as a mother.
Faye was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, Mt. Olive. Throughout her life, she served her church community in various capacities, including as a Sunday School teacher, Girls in Action (GA's) leader, children's and youth ministry, and dedicated choir member. She also served as the church secretary for many years, leaving an indelible mark on the congregation with her commitment and grace.
Outside of church, Faye was passionate about education and spent many years teaching in the Montessori and Abeka kindergarten classes at Simpson Academy. She was a self-taught pianist, painter, and an avid gardener. Faye's unwavering faith and boundless love for God were evident to all who knew her. She radiated kindness, compassion, and joy, serving as a shining example of Christian faith to her family and community. Her legacy of love and devotion will continue to inspire generations to come.
Faye was preceded in death by her beloved husband, A.D. Robertson, Sr., her parents, Alva James, and Nelia Flake Kennedy, and seven of her siblings.
Survivors include her children, Shelia Carpenter (Greg) Clinton, MS, Carmen Curtis (Cory) Slidell, LA, and Shane Robertson (Angela) Brazil, IN, as well as her brothers, John Kennedy (Jean) Simpsonville, SC, and Guy Kennedy (Rita) Sebastopol, MS.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will deeply miss their beloved Granna, Kyle Gregory Carpenter (Christa); Aaron Cody Carpenter (Amy); Kennedy Caroline Curtis; Colby Graham Curtis (Rawlins); Emma Claire Byers (Jake); Cade Robertson Carpenter (Raegan); Caleb McKenzie Carpenter (Ashlyn) and Anna Grace Robertson. Nalee Coil, Frances Olene (Frannie) Carpenter and Amelia John (Millie) Carpenter, and her namesake, Charlotte Faye (Lotte) Curtis.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Faye's memory to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 143, Mt. Olive, MS, 39119. Faye's legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. May she rest in peace surrounded by God's eternal love.
