Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 1, 2024, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Dorothy Mae Norris, 89 of Collins, who passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at The Landmark of Collins.
Brother Barry Armstrong will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Union South Baptist Church Cemetery in Seminary. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Friday, November 1, 2024, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Highway 49, Collins, Mississippi.
Pallbearers will be her family members and friends.
Dorothy loved cooking for her family. She enjoyed visiting with her children and grandchildren. She loved her Landmark family, playing bingo, and listening to music. She always looked forward to hearing Maranatha Mennonite Church coming to sing. She considered herself the "Mayor" of The Landmark of Collins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Gordan "Doc" Norris; a son, Johnny Lee Norris; two daughters, Debra Norris Jackson and Shelia Jo Norris Hodge; her parents, George and Lillie Sanford Shores; two brothers, G.D. Shores and Nate Shores; one sister, Patsy Shores Byrd; and one granddaughter, Tabitha Bullock.
Survivors include her daughter, Carla Norris Bullock (Richard) of Seminary; one son-in-law, Larry Jackson of Seminary; a special friend, Vicki Duplessey Miller of Petal; six grandchildren, Josh Norris, Jenn McKinney (Greg), Jay Norris (Irene), Brittani Lund, Kasi Smith (Gage), and Jacob Hodge; eleven great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
