Douglas Richard Myers, born in Pensacola, Florida, December 29, 1961 and was the middle child to Mary Myers Hatten, and the late John Carroll Myers. Ricky passed away from this life on February 25, 2024 in Birmingham, Alabama at the age of 62. He was a graduate of Seminary High School. Ricky was employed locally for several years by both Dairy Fresh in Hattiesburg, and Woolwine Ford-Lincoln in Collins, but he spent the majority of his working years being self-employed. He was an entrepreneur by nature and had an uncanny knack for finding business endeavors to delve into. Over his 44 working years, he founded and built several successful businesses, including a debt collection company, multiple payday loan businesses, a grocery store, a truck company and most recently a tire business. During his years in the payday loan industry, Ricky served as president of the Mississippi Check Cashing Association and lobbyist for several years. He was also very active on the national board for payday loans.
Ricky was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, Pawpaw and a friend to so many. He never met a stranger, always found the humor in life and was never without an animated and funny story to tell. He adored his family and loved spending time with his wife and grandkids
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, the late DR and Leoma Myers and the late Millard and Laura Francis Sanford; his father, John, Carol Myers; and a sister, Dinia Myers.
Survivors include his wife, Dan Thanh (DT) Thieu Myers of Hattiesburg; one daughter, Amber Myers Robinson, and her husband, Matt of Sumrall; his mother, Mary Myers Hatten of Seminary; four grandchildren, Addeline Robinson, Sam Robinson, Gracie Barnes, and Tristen Barnes; one sister, Tinia Myers of Seminary; and a host of nieces and nephews.
