Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins for Eloise Spell Corley, 82 of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who passed away on October 18, 2026.
Interment will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Eloise Spell Corley was born in Hot Coffee, Mississippi on July 17th, 1944. She was the youngest of 6 to Olin Timothy Spell and Ella Jane Graves Spell. Eloises’ job on the dairy farm was to take care of the calves and help with the milking. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Music Education, which she used to teach at school in Fairhope, Alabama. She joined the American Red Cross Overseas Association in July of 1968 and went to Vietnam as a Donut Dolly.
Upon her return stateside, she kept working with the American Red Cross helping with disaster relief. It was during clean-up of Hurricane Camille that she met Charles Ray Corley, whom she married on August 13th, 1972. They welcomed their only child, Stephanie Helen, in January of 1975.
The three of them settled in Aurora, Colorado in 1982 where they lived, worked and worshipped. Chuck and Ellie eventually moved to South Florida to be closer to their daughter and her family.
Eloise, or Ellie, as her friends knew her, loved to create, whether that was singing, crafting, painting or sharing her homemade pasta and biscuit recipes. She used her gifts to help her church, her friends and family. She loved getting to know new people. She could meet someone and within 10 minutes know everything there was to know about them. She valued those around her.
Speaking of creating, Ellie loved to try all sorts of arts and crafts. She was good at painting, especially watercolor. She was also a great seamstress. She made many of her daughter’s clothes as well as clothes for her dolls.
Along with creating, she also loved to sing. She had a rich alto voice, which she used to sing in many church choirs, and even the trio, Sweet Assurance, with her best friends Marcy and Pam.
Ellie loved her creator and savior and instilled that same in her daughter, for which she is eternally grateful. It is true that the only thing you can take to heaven is your children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Olin Timothy Spell and Ella Jane Graves Spell; three sisters, Olene Spell Fowler, Vivian Spell Magee, and Jane Spell Funderburk; and one brother, Joe Spell.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-four years, Charles Ray Corley, one daughter, Stephanie Corley Campion, and her husband, Jeff; one sister, Nelda Spell Mitchell, and her husband, Dennis; two grandchildren, J.T. Campion and Caitlin Campion; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

We only see a little of the ocean a few miles distance from the rocky shore.
But Oh! Out there beyond - beyond the eye's horizon, -
There's more. There's more.
We only see a little of God's loving, a few rich treasures from His mighty store.
But Oh! Out there beyond - beyond our life's horizon -
There's more. There's more.
