Ernestine Leggett
(July 30, 1946 – March 24, 2024)


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Ernestine Leggett, 77 of Seminary, who passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS.


Brother Chad Cummins will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Ora Cemetery in Collins. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.


Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Highway 49, Collins, Mississippi.


Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Lott, Layne McLaurin, Sterling Craft, Vic Green, Russell Bullock, and Joey Pickering.


Ernestine was married to Charles for thirty years.  She loved working in her flower beds and watching hummingbirds feed on the birdfeeders. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her.  Her children said she was a wonderful mother and she will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Leggett;  parents Preston Wooten and Olivia Broom Wooten;  two brothers, Danny Wooten and Carl Wooten;  three sisters, Frances Ramshur, Bobbie Bullock and Brenda Cox.


Survivors include one son, Mike Leggett (Angie) of Seminary;  two daughters, Robin Leggett Hudson (Jayson) of Seminary and Lisa Leggett of Laurel; one brother, Charlie Wooten of Columbia;  three sisters, Ann Green of Hattiesburg, Patsy Butler of Atlanta, GA, and Tammy Wooten of Columbia; four grandchildren, Rivers Johnson of Laurel, Lakyn Johnson of Laurel, Maci Leggett of Seminary, and Bradyn Leggett of Seminary; two step grandchildren, Kara Sasser and Jonathan Sasser, both of Collins; one step great-granddaughter, Annie Sasser of Collins; three brother-in-laws, Freddie Bullock of Seminary, Quinton Mathis of Collins and Terry Leggett of Vancleave; and a host of nieces and nephews.
