Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at the Smyrna Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Seminary for Eva Mae Shoemake Carter, 83 of Collins, Mississippi, who passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at her home.
Bro. Gary Bridges and Bro. Steve Ellis will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Smyrna Landmark Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Seminary, Mississippi. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3302 Highway 49, Collins, Mississippi 39428.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Carter, Steven Cutway, Cullen Carter, Andrew Carter, Austin Carter, and David Welborn. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacoby Toussoint and Anthony Runnels.
Mrs. Carter was born on April 25, 1938, in Carson, Mississippi. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was a member of Smyrma Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, listening to gospel music, and most of all spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lavon Carter; parents, Elbert M. Shoemake and Dovie Edith Yates Shoemake; one son, David Fedrick; two brothers, Lavon Shoemake and Jimmy Shoemake; one sister, Janie Shoemake Atwood; two grandchildren, Cindy Cutway and Shane Brouillette.
Survivors include five children, Margaret Carter Bullock of Collins, Rebecca Carter Runnels of New Augusta, Randy Carter of Collins, and Richard Carter of Seminary, Sam Cadiere of Collins; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-three great- grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Shoemake Carter of Seminary and Eunice Shoemake Rockholt of Texas; and a host of other family members and friends.
