Gary Leroy Scarborough, Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Gary Leroy Scarbrough Sr., 81 of Hattiesburg, who passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the Merit-Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg.

Dr. Paul Young will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Welcome Home My Child Cemetery in Hattiesburg. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Billy M, King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Highway 49, Collins, Mississippi, 39428

His pallbearers will be Brad Ellzey, Hunter Scarborough, Dustin Scarborough, Andrew Eavenson, Matthew Eavenson, and Seth Herbert. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Ellzey, Karson Yates, Eli Flynt, and Peyton Flynt.

Mr. Scarborough, affectionately known as Bluebird, Cotton, or Kit, was born on September 15, 1944, in Biloxi, Mississippi to L.N. “Buck” Scarborough and Laura Mae Davis Scarborough. He started his education at St. Martin in Ocean Springs, then his family moved to Collins at a young age where he continued his education. Mr. Scarborough ended up settling in Sanford, Mississippi in 1977. He was a dedicated truck driver. Mr. Scarbrough worked for many companies throughout his career but ended up retiring from Borden Diary after fourteen years of service. He was a member of the Baptist faith. Mr. Scarborough was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will greatly missed by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, L.N. “Buck” Scarborough and Laura Mae Davis Scarborough; and his wife of twenty-six years, Elizabeth Ann Scarborough.

Survivors include one son, Gary Leroy “Lee” Scarborough Jr. (Laura) of Ovett; four daughters, Tammy Dilmore (W.C.) of Sanford, Lisa Runnels (Rob) of Seminary, Wanda Eavenson (Keith) of Moselle, and Kimberly Courtney (Bobby) of Gilbert, Arizona. He also had five bonus children, Mike Pace (Liz) of Hattiesburg, Lisa Mann (Danny) of Seminary, Shonda Hudson of Carnes, Gina Flynt (Jason) of Sanford, and Trina Phillips (Greg) of Petal. He was also survived by one brother, Shelton Scarborough (Amanda) of Ocean Springs; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
