Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2022 at the Station Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Collins for Gerald Dent Bucklew, Sr, 83 of Collins, who passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022 at the his residence.
Brother Trent Williamson and Brother Joe Lott will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Station Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins. Special music will be provided by Reagan Gerald Arnold and Danny McDonald. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, and from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Monday, November 28, 2022 at the Station Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Reagan Arnold, Daniel Adcock, Channing Bucklew, Alex Bucklew, Ben Ford, and Chris Hull.
Mr. Bucklew was born on April 8, 1939, in Seminary, Mississippi. He was a graduate of Seminary High School, Jones County Junior College, and Howard College (Samford University) in Birmingham, Alabama with a degree in Pharmacy. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and papa. He was a faithful member of Station Creek Missionary Baptist Church where he was a deacon and taught the adult men's Sunday School Class. Mr. Bucklew retired after fifty plus years of service as the owner (25 years) and pharmacist of Clayton Drug Store in Collins. Mr. Bucklew loved fishing with his dear friend W. C. Ford and with his grandchildren. He was an avid follower of high school and college football. He enjoyed traveling with his family and friends and visited every state in the union and thirty two countries. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Eugene and Millie Coulter Bucklew; one brother, Robert Harold Bucklew; four sisters, Iris Bucklew Thornton (Wallace), Erma Jean Bucklew Faler (Henry), Bernice Bucklew Yates (Millard), and Colleen Bucklew McDonald (Billy).
Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Linda Jo McQueen Bucklew of Collins; one son, Gerald Dent Bucklew, Jr, and his wife, Ginger of Louisville; one daughter, Rebecca Jo Bucklew Arnold, and her husband, Roy of Collins; one sister, Janis Bucklew James of Hattiesburg; six grandchildren, Ryan Lee Arnold of Ocoee, Florida, JoAnna Arnold Adcock (Daniel) of Diamondhead, Reagan Gerald Arnold of Collins, Channing Flynt Bucklew (Hannah) of Brandon, Alexander Cole Bucklew (Devan) of Madison, and Anna Claire Bucklew of Louisville; three great- grandchildren, Vivianna Adcock, Mila Bucklew, and Ian Adcock; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Station Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Attention, Justin Kirkland, 645 Highway 84 East, Collins, Mississippi, 39428.
