Ginger Kay Smith Speed

(May 15, 1960 – April 7, 2026)

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Ginger Kay Smith Speed, 65 of Collins, who passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Covington County Hospital.

Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends.

Mrs. Speed was born on May 15, 1960, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Jeffie J. Smith and Mary Grace McNair Smith.  She earned an associate's degree in nursing from Jones County Junior College.  Mrs. Speed retired from the Mississippi State Veterans Home after twenty years of service as a Registered Nurse.  She was a member of the Station Creek Baptist Church in Collins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeffie J. and Mary Grace McNair Smith; her husband of forty-two years, Perry Don Speed; one sister, Judy Smith; and two brothers, Jerry Smith and Larry Smith.

Survivors include one son, Joshua Speed of Collins; one brother, Mickey Don Speed of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn Speed Bennett (Mitchell) of Mendenhall, Lexie Seal Lott (Austin), Gracie Speed, and Hunter Speed, all of Collins; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
