Obituary

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date for Gladys Judith Shoemake Berry, 72 of Seminary, who passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.

Interment will be in the Sunrise Baptist Church Cemetery in Petal.  Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Berry was born on October 12, 1948 in Perry County, Mississippi.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.  Mrs. Berry retired from the Petal School System after numerous years of service in the custodial department.  She was a member of the Church of God faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Felton and Gladys Underwood Shoemake; one son, David E. Berry II; one daughter, Wauneta Ann Berry; and three brothers, Jerry Shoemake, Ray Shoemake, and Hobert Shoemake.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Marie Davis and Donatta Kay Berry, both of Seminary; her former husband, David Berry Sr. of Seminary; seven grandchildren, Jessie James Gunner, Jessica Nicole Berry, James Calvin Davis, Jeffrey Allen Davis, Danielle Kayla Hackauf, and Jessie Gunner; two great-grandchildren, Mason Hackauf and Marlee Davis; three sisters, Ruth Gibson (Marion) and Betty Nanny (Gordon), both of Hattiesburg, and Juanice Courtney of New Augusta; and a host of nieces and nephews.
