Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Granville Ramsey McDonald, 88 of Collins, who passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
Reverend Tommy Shields and Reverend Rudolph Sims will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the McDonald Chapel Cemetery in Collins with military rites at graveside. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Michelle Duckworth. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3302 Highway 49, Collins, MS 39428.
Pallbearers will be Adam Edward Farris, Matthew McDonald Farris, Robert Holden Dykes, II, Greg McDonald, Tal Pickering, and Bob Shoemake. Honorary pallbearers will be Briggs McDonald, Cort McDonald, Tyler Folkes, and Pete Parish.
Mr. McDonald was born on August 4, 1933 in Collins, Mississippi to Richard and Vaudril Taylor McDonald. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Mr. McDonald retired from Chevron Corporation after thirty-three years of service in off-shore oil production. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Mr. McDonald was a member of the Ora Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Vaudril Taylor McDonald; his son, Granville Ramsey "Randy" McDonald, Jr.; two brothers, Alex McDonald and Frank McDonald; and one sister, Gwendolyn McDonald Wade.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-six years, Allene Aultman McDonald of Collins, two daughters, Vickie McDonald Farris, and her husband, Eddie of Corinth, Texas, and Donna McDonald Dykes, and her husband, Bob of Collins; five grandchildren, Adam Edward Farris (Irene), Matthew McDonald Farris (Deanna), Ramsi Danielle Dykes, Reagan Elise Dykes, and Robert Holden Dykes, II.; two great-grandchildren, James Joseph "J.J." Farris and Benjamin Patrick "Ben" Farris; three brothers, Larry McDonald, and his wife, Barbara, Don McDonald, and his wife, Laverne, and Richard McDonald, and his wife, Ann, all of Collins; three sisters, Beth McDonald Davis of Rockledge, Florida, Emma Lou McDonald Mooney, and her husband, Curtis, and Rachel McDonald Baird of Taylorsville; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105, or to a charity of your choice.
