Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Helen Rae Davis Hitt, 94, of Seminary, who passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Covington County Hospital.
Reverend Glenn Freeman and Reverend Boyd Thrash will officiate the services with interment to follow in the Kelly-Napier Family Cemetery in Seminary. Music will be provided by Mr. Nic Bernard. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Hwy 49, Collins, Mississippi.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Creel, Frank Corage, Bland Allen, David Aultman, Roland Dossett, and Davis Winstead.
Mrs. Hitt was born on September 27, 1929, in Seminary to Appie and Mary Blanche Davis. A lifelong resident of Seminary and 1948 graduate of Seminary High School, Mrs. Hitt earned a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Southern Mississippi and retired from Collins Middle School after 30 years of service. She was an active member of Seminary United Methodist Church for all of her life. She enjoyed hosting and decorating for various church and family gatherings among other events. A loving mother and grandmother, she will be dearly missed by her family and community.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Hitt; parents, Appie and Mary Blanche Kelly Davis; brother, Stancel Davis; and a sister, Ouida Winstead.
Survivors include her children, Cindy H. Bernard (Reed) of Seminary and Ty Hitt (Alexis) of Charlotte, North Carolina; sister, Kelly Sue Davis Mooney of Seminary; grandchildren, Taylor Hall, Jordan Hall, Harper Hitt, Harrison Hitt, and Holden Hitt; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
