Helen Jean Walker

(June 11, 1932 – February 11, 2024)

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 16, 2024 at the Billy M. King Funeral Home in Collins for Helen Jean Walker, 91 of Slidell, LA.  Helen Jean Walker went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, February 11, 2024.

Pastor Larry McEwin will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the McNair Cemetery in Mount Olive. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Friday, February 16, 2024 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Hwy 49, Collins, Mississippi.

Pallbearers will be Steve Kitchens, Jacob Kitchens, Mark Kitchens, Stevie Kitchens, Clay Wright, and Jose Berrios.

Helen Jean, better known as Jean, by all who loved her, was born in Laurel, MS but resided in New Orleans, LA for the majority of her life. Jean was lovingly referred to as the fun mom, grand maw and aunt.  She had a larger-than-life personality and left behind wonderful memories for all.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Walker; parents, Robert and Alma Ward; step-daughter, Joann Leggett; siblings, Dorothy Nixon, Elleanor Ward, Robert Ward, Francis Kitchens and Bobby Culpepper along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Jean leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Maxie Walker (Melinda) of New Orleans; one daughter, Jeanie Warren (Jerry) of Slidell, three granddaughters, Tiffany Warren Wright (Clay) of Slidell, Melissa Warren (Jose) of Slidell and Teresa Majoria of New Orleans; Step Grandchildren; Donnie Lightsey (Tonya), Johnnie Lightsey, Lynn Lightsey (John) and one great granddaughter, Addison Wright; and a host of extended family members & friends whom she loved dearly.
