Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at the Leaf River Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins for Helen Frances Williams Speed, 79 of Collins, who passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
Dr. Brett Golson and Dr. Dorman Laird will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Leaf River Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Babette Duty. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Taormina, Lee Taormina, Zay Speed, Shane Blanton, Lynwood Williams, III, Mark Rogers, and Kevin Polk. Honorary pallbearers will be the Covington County Homemaker Volunteers.
Mrs. Speed was born on July 15, 1941 in Carthage, Mississippi. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Mrs. Speed was a homemaker and a member of the Hot Coffee Homemakers. She was the former president of the Mississippi Homemaker Volunteers. Mrs. Speed was a member of the Leaf River Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lynwood Williams Sr. and Helen McClure Williams; and two brothers, John Wayne Williams and Richard H. Williams.
Survivors include her husband of sixty years, Wilford R. Speed, Sr. of Collins; one son, Wilford Speed, Jr. and his wife, Nancy of Collins; one daughter, Lisa Speed Taormina, and her husband, Michael of Collins; six grandchildren, Tyler Taormina, and his wife, Kaitie, Lee Taormina, Molly Speed Blanton, and her husband, Shane, and Zay Speed; two brothers, Lynwood Williams Jr. and his wife, Esther of Collins and Ross Williams, and his wife, Gayle of Seminary; two sisters-in-law, Tobie Williams of Runnelstown and Vickie Williams of Seminary; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Leaf River Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Mark Rogers, 531 Station Creek Church Road, Collins, Mississippi, 39428.
