Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Herbert Joseph Nettleton, 89, of Seminary, who passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Reverend Kenny Moore, Reverend Chad Cummins, and Reverend Tommy Broom will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery in Seminary. Special music will be provided by Susan Deen. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3302 Hwy 49, Collins, Mississippi.
Pallbearers will be Trenton McDaniel, Lin Carter, Larry DeoGracias, William DeoGracias, Terry Nettleton, and Brian DeoGracias.
Herbert was affectionately known as Brother Herb by many and by his family and close friends as Gabe'. He loved God and faithfully served Him in the ministry for fifty years. He had a passion for sharing the message of Jesus Christ and salvation with all he met. Herb proudly served his country in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army and was honorably discharged. Herb was married to the love of his life, Ruth "Jean", for sixty-three years. He adored his family and greatly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, traveling, and telling tall tales to anyone who would listen. Herb enjoyed studying and teaching world history and coaching for many years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Carl Nettleton; parents Wilfred Nettleton and Rita Falgout Nettleton; four brothers, Ronald Nettleton, Reynold Nettleton, Lloyd Nettleton and Carroll Nettleton and one sister, Delores Ventura; and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Calhoun Nettleton.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth DeoGracias Nettleton of Seminary, MS; daughter, Lana Nettleton McDaniel of Hattiesburg; brother, Terry Nettleton of Houma, LA; sisters, Noel Nettleton Lambert (Ronald) of Houma, LA and Nelda Nettleton Parker (Jim) of Arlington, TX; grandson, Trenton McDaniel of Sumrall; granddaughter, Andrea McDaniel Carter (Lin) of Hattiesburg; great grandson, Kasen McDaniel; great granddaughters, Madeline Carter, Noelle Carter and Mia Kate Carter.
