Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Homer Glynn Daniel, Sr., 87 of Collins, who passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Reverend David Lowery, Reverend Stan Lobin, and Reverend Bob Lytle will officiate the ceremony with the interment to follow in Williamsburg United Methodist Church Cemetery in Collins. Special music will be provided by Lynne Daniel and Susan Reid. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3302 Highway 49, Collins, Mississippi 39428.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Harvey, Jason Duckworth, Kevin Daniel, Landon Harvey, Josiah Ainsworth, Jonathan Smith, Drey Ellzey, and Bill Haseltine. Honorary pallbearers will be Bennie Sparkman, S.L. Rogers, Dr. Jack Hudson, and Bro. Rodney Duke.
Mr. Daniel had a long career as a pipeline welder and was a 62-year member of Pipeliners Local 798. He worked throughout the United States and in South America. He was the welding superintendent on the largest segment of the Trans Alaska Pipeline and his section was awarded the number one section out of the five sections. As a young man, he was a merchant marine on the Great Lakes. His favorite pastime was sharing stories of his experiences with his children and grandchildren and tending to his constant companion, Lassie.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patsy Lou Lott Daniel; parents, Ira Homer Daniel and Bonnie Mabel Winstead Daniel; four siblings, Inez Magee, James Daniel, Pauline Everett, Allie Lou Grey; and son-in-law, Jeff Harvey.
Survivors include his four loving children, Homer Daniel, Jr. and his wife, Gail, of Collins, Derrell Daniel and his wife, Penny, of Collins, Serita Daniel of Sumrall, and Mechelle Duckworth and her husband, Joel, of Sumrall; grandchildren Daniel Harvey, Steffani Duckworth, Nichole Daniel, Jason Duckworth (Meagan), Kevin Daniel, Cher Smith (Jonathan), Adriann Cooper (Tyler), Justin Duckworth, Shelby Ellzey (Drey), Rebel Knight (Kelli), and Destin Knight; and twenty-one great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Williamsburg Methodist Church Family Life Center, P. O. Box 1431, Collins, MS 39428.
