Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the Rock Hill Baptist Church in Mount Olive for Howard Donald Batte, 89 of Mount Olive, who passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Covington County Hospital in Collins, MS.
Reverend Dwight Carr, Reverend Nelson Crozier, and Reverend Jeff Easterling will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Mount Olive. Special music will be provided by Jane Griffith and Mary Ann Jones. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. util 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the Rock Hill Baptist Church, 518 Rock Hill Road, Mount Olive, MS. 39119.
Pallbearers will be Phillip McDonald, Phillip Ponder, Clay Batte, Jeff Batte, Chris Batte, and David Grayson. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Nicholas Kingery, Brantley Powell, Preston Diehl, Drew Powell, McKenzie Griffon, Katelyn Griffon, and Jack Griffon.
Mr. Batte was born on January 20, 1935, in Mount Olive, Mississippi to A.J. and Iva Belle Easterling Batte. He retired from the construction industry as a brick mason after numerous years of service. Mr. Batte was a member of the Rock Hill Baptist Church in Mount Olive. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Mr. Batte enjoyed spending time with his family and will be dearly missed by them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A.J. and Iva Belle Easterling Batte; two brothers, Jack Batte and Tommy Batte; one sister, Geneva Batte Grayson; and one granddaughter, Bethany Diehl.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-five years, Lillie Jones Batte of Mount Olive, MS; one son, Andrew Griffon (Audrey) of Sumrall, MS; one daughter, Angela Griffon Powell (Jason) of Collins, MS; one sister, Nellie Batte Craft of Gulfport, MS; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Kingery, Brantley Powell, Preston Diehl, Drew Powell, McKenzie Griffon, Katelyn Griffon, and Jack Griffon; one great-grandchild, Zach Powell; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 518 Rock Hill Road, Mount Olive, MS. 39119.
