Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the Collins City Cemetery in Collins for Hubert Ray Abercrombie, Jr., 74 of Collins, who passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
Reverend Tommy Shields and Reverend Glenn Shoemake will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Collins City Cemetery in Collins. Special music will be provided by Susan and Ricky Deen. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Rob Lawhon, Chase McDaniel, Chris Stockman, Josh Blackwell, Tracey Lott, and Josh Walley. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas McCoy, James King, David Shoemake, Chris Stockman, Johnny Pearce, and Steven Smith.
Mr. Abercrombie was born on September 30, 1946 in Collins to Hubert Ray Abercrombie Sr. and Georgina Rogers Abercrombie. He was a loving husband, father, pawpaw, and brother. Mr. Abercrombie was the owner and operator of Abercrombie Auto Repair and a mechanic for over sixty years. He attended the Collins Presbyterian Church prior to his declining health.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Georgina Rogers Abercrombie; a brother, Freddie Mack Abercrombie; a nephew, Chadd Damon Smith; and a dear friend, Larry McCraw.
Survivors include his wife of forty-years, Dannie Jean Drennan Abercrombie of Collins; one daughter, Angie Abercrombie Lawhon, and her husband Rob of Collins; two sisters, Dorothy Abercrombie McDaniel, and her husband, Jacky of Seminary, and Charlotte Abercrombie Pearce, and her husband, John of Bay Springs; his in-laws, Dannie and Lucy Drennan of Seminary; a sister-in-law, Nancy Drennan Silva, and her husband, Lazaro of Seminary; four grandchildren, Abby Beth Stringer, Annalee Stringer, Luke Lawhon, and Payton Lawhon; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
