Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, December 20, 2019, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Jack Ferrell Bryant, 92 of Collins, who passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Collins.
Bro. Chad Cummings and Bro. David Bryant will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the New Good Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Mendenhall. Special music will be provided by Bro. Bob Thames. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 P.M. until 1:30 P.M. on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Billy M. King Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Will Purvis, David Purvis, John Bryant, Andrew Bryant, Jason Ryder, and Luke Vincent. Honorary pallbearers will be MP & L coworkers.
Mr. Bryant was born on February 22, 1927, in Hot Coffee, Mississippi. He served in the Army during WWII and the Korean War. He retired from MP & L Co. (Entergy) after 38 years. He enjoyed working outside, especially gardening and giving away vegetables from his garden. He enjoyed serving others and served as a Deacon in the Baptist church. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church. He was a faithful follower of Jesus, a faithful, loving husband and father, and a faithful friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents J.P. and Hettie Mae Rutland Bryant.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Verna Lee Bryant; two children Jacquelyn Purvis and her husband, David, of Starkville, and David Bryant and his wife, Sue, of McComb; four grandchildren, Sarah Ryder (Jason), Will Purvis, Jr. (Monique), Kris Vincent (Luke), John Bryant, and Andrew Bryant; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ryder and Cathryn Ryder; and a host of cousins and other family members.
Memorial donations can be made to the Gideons at gideons.org/donate, or Evergreen Baptist Church in Seminary, Mississippi, for the furtherance of God's word into the hearts of those in need in this world.
