Obituary

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home for Jack Redice Knight, 85 of Collins, who passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at his residence.

Reverend Rocky Holston and Mr. John M. Knight will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Willow Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites at graveside. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Julia Rae Dean and Mr. Jay Baggett. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.

Pallbearers will be John M. Knight, Bill Keys, Don Keys, Reed Abercrombie, David Abercrombie, Mike Faler, Don Mitchell, and Doyle Gandy. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Knight and Patrick Knight.

Mr. Knight was born on August 8, 1931in Covington County, Mississippi. He retired after thirty plus years of service as a Mathematics teacher for the Los Angeles School System. Mr. Knight was a member of the Willow Grove Baptist Church. He also proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reece and Tressie M. Lott Knight; one daughter, Pam Knight Martin; and two brothers, Doug Knight and J.W. Knight.

Survivors include his wife of thirteen years, Rachel Abercrombie Knight of Collins; one son, John M. Knight of San Dimas, California; one daughter, Debbie Knight Herman of San Clemente, California; one step daughter, Keita Harris and her husband, Vern of Madison; two step sons, Don Keys of Collins, and Bill Keys of Lucedale; one sister, Lyda Knight Clark, and her husband, Grady of Brandon; one brother, Billy Knight of Collins; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
