Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for James Edward Taylor, 69, of Collins, who passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.

Roy Craft will officiate the services. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3302 Hwy 49, Collins, Mississippi.

Pallbearers will be Jessie Roberts, Tracy Scruggs, Sean Johnson, James Taylor, Walter Roberts, Eric Johnson, Rodney Taylor, Scott Taylor, and Troy Johnson.

Mr. Taylor, affectionately known as "Buster" or "Pop", was born on May 31, 1953, in Laurel, Mississippi, to Scott and Margie Craft Taylor. He was raised in the Sanford community, where he spent his formidable years until his family moved to Hattiesburg. While in Hattiesburg, Mr. Buster met the former Rita Gaye Johnson, whom he married February 2, 1973. They later moved to Petal, Mississippi, where Mr. Buster worked as an automobile body repairman and painter. Mr. Buster shared a love for drag racing with many of his brothers and nephews. A loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, and uncle, Mr. Buster will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Scott James Taylor; mother, Margie Lee Craft Taylor; brothers, Berlon "Shoot" Taylor, Scott Taylor; and a sister-in-law, Judy Taylor.

Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Rita Gaye Johnson Taylor of Collins, Mississippi; daughters, Nikki Jones (Billy) and Stefani Taylor (Robert Talley) both of Seminary, Mississippi; a sister, Mary Ellis Chappell of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; grandchildren, Dustin Taylor, Brooklyn Talley, Brandon Harp, Monica Jones Grant (Lake), Blaten Jones (Kalyn), Conner Harrell (Courtney), Addisen Jones; great grandchildren, Harper Taylor, Braylen Grant, Cooper Harrell, Caysen Harrell, and the eagerly awaited Lakelynn Grant; and many other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
