James Edward (Jack) King

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Mount Olive for James Edward (Jack) King of Mount, Olive, who passed away on Sunday, June 1,2025 at his residence.

Dr. Bob Phillips will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Mount Olive City Cemetery in Mount, Olive. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements. Special music will be provided by Dwight Carr, and special words by Ramon Johnston.

The family will receive guests from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Thursday, June 05, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Mount Olive, 305 Main Street, Mount, Olive Mississippi.

Pallbearers will be Randy Almaguer, Nate Clark, Kyle Curlee, Tyler King, James Henry Robinson, and Paul Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Blain, Ramon Johnston, Bill Powell, Charles Powell, former employees of Chevron and Deacons of The First Baptist Church of Mount, Olive.

Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all who knew him and he will be dearly missed. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean war. Jack was the terminal manager at Chevron Oil Company in Collins, Mississippi for thirty-eight years and co-owner of The Covington House restaurant in Collins. He also served as a former mayor of Mount Olive. He had a talent for storytelling and never met a stranger. Jack was a faithful member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Mount Olive. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and visitors were always welcome in his home. The family would love to acknowledge a special thanks to friend and caretaker, Faye Weathersby and Home Health and Hospice Care.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Faye Jordan King; his parents, Roy King and Alma McLeod King; three brothers, Mack King, Don King and Jerry King and one sister, Barbara King Roberts.

Survivors include his two sons, James Keith King (Christy) of Magee, and John Kelvin King (Cheryl) of Mount Olive; one sister, Mary King Burnham of Collins; four grandchildren, Tyler King (Caitlyn) of Oxford, Christin Curlee (Kyle) of Magee, Megan Clark (Nate) of Oxford and Kelsie King; three great-grandchildren, Blake Curlee, Oliver Clark, and Connor Clark; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
