James Orval Locke

(May 30, 1945 – July 12, 2021)

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at the New Fellowship Baptist Church in Seminary for James Orval Locke, 76 of Seminary, who passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.

Reverend George Moore will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the New Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Seminary.  Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.

Pallbearers will be the members of the SouthEast Covington County Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. Locke was born on May 30, 1945 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to John Thomas Locke and Leola Mae Corley Locke.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.  Mr. Locke retired from Borden Dairy Company after numerous years of service as a truck driver.  After retiring, he operated a small engine repair business.  Mr. Locke was one of the founders of the SouthEast Covington County Fire Department, and was an active member for the last thirty-six years.  He was also a member of the Mississippi Firefighters Association.  Mr. Locke was a member and deacon at the New Fellowship Baptist Church in Seminary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas Locke and Leola Mae Corley Locke; and one sister, Audrey Lowe.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Earl Crosby Locke of Seminary; one son, Craig Locke, and his wife, Natalie of Laurel; five grandchildren, Ashlyn King, and her husband, Justin, Darby Locke, Gryson Locke, Bryse Mauldin, and Maily Mauldin; three great-grandchildren, Paislee King, Pace King, and Kylee King; one sister, Nina Mason, and her husband, Doug of Purvis; one brother, Larry Locke, and his wife, Rachel of Petal; and a host of nieces and nephews.
