James Darwin Odum

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel for James Darwin Odum, 86 of Seminary, who passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at his residence.

Brother Chad Cummins will officiate at the services with interment to follow at the Mount Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins. Billy M. King Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Billy M. King Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Highway 49, Collins, Mississippi, 39428.

Pallbearers will be Braxton Squires, Garrett Holloway, Reggie Craft, and Gary Squires.

Darwin was born on February 29, 1940, in Seminary, Mississippi, to his parents, James Howard and Ethel Stapleton Odum. He was a retired truck driver with over fifty years of experience. Darwin was the owner and operator of Darwin Odum Trucking in Seminary, Mississippi. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church in Seminary. Darwin was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him and he will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Howard and Ethel Stapleton Odum.

Survivors include his daughters, Pam Miley of Madison, and Anita Sackler of Hattiesburg; a stepdaughter, Misty Jordan (Clay) of Seminary; four sisters, Juanita, Jean, Glenda and Shirley; his family through love; Christy Squires, Braxton Squires, Kalyn Squires, Gary Squires, Reggie Craft and Doyle Welch; and a host of other family members and friends.
