Monroe was married to the love of his life Jean, "his bride" as he called her, for fifty-six years. He always told her he only loved God more. God was number one and she was number two. His passion in life was preaching God's word to nursing homes and assisted living centers. He was a military veteran, a retired army sergeant first class after over twenty years of faithful service. Monroe had a special love for our military servicemen and women and his fellow preacher brethren. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had six sisters, three brothers, eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members. Monroe was loved by many and will be missed by all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Luvet Yates and Ora Lucille Bridges Yates; and one grandson, Randall Yates.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Marilyn Jean Randall Yates of Ellisville; three sons, Shannon Yates (Amy), Jody Yates, and Justin Yates (Subrina), all of Collins; one daughter, Crystal Yates Neal (Jon) of Collins; eleven grandchildren, Catlin Neal (Mandy), Colby Neal (Kelsey), J.J. Yates, Courtney Neal Bryant (Nathan), Danielle Pickering, LeAnne Yates, Madison Yates, Brooke Yates Daughdrill (Hayden), Kaylea Yates and Gracie Yates Welch (Chad).
