Jane Spell Funderburk

(December 24, 1935 – February 26, 2023)

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins for Jane Spell Funderburk, 87 of Thompson's Station, who passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at her residence in Thompson's Station, TN.

Reverend A. Carl Funderburk, Jr. will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins.  Special music will be provided by Mr. Kyal Mann.  Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Joe Nathan Funderburk, Kyal Mann, Braxton Mann, John Carter Mann, Seth Howell, and Nathan Howell.

Mrs. Funderburk was born on December 24, 1935, in Collins, Mississippi to Olin Timothy and Ella Jane Graves Spell.  She graduated from Salem High School and the Mississippi University for Women with a bachelor's degree in education.  Mrs. Funderburk retired after thirty-five years of service as a home economics teacher.  She was a member of the Triune Baptist Church in Arrington, Tennessee.  Mrs. Funderburk was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Olin Timothy and Ella Jane Graves Spell; one brother, Joe Spell; two sisters, Olene Spell Fowler, and Vivian Eve Spell Magee; and one grandson, John Issac Howell.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-four years, Rev. A. Carl Funderburk of Thompsons Station, TN; four children, Olin Carl Funderburk (Leigh) of Franklin, Tennessee, Karen Corne Funderburk Howell (Mike) of Ellisville, Joe Nathan Funderburk (Denise) of Fordland, Missouri, and Kristi Funderburk of Leeds, Alabama; two sisters, Nelda Spell Mitchell (Dennis) of Collins, and Eloise Spell Corley (Chuck) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
