Janice Gilbert Polk

(February 17, 1947 – February 25, 2026)

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date for Janice Gilbert Polk, 79 of Collins, who passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the Arrington Living Center in Collins.

Inurnment will be in Fellowship Cemetery in Taylorsville, Mississippi. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Polk was born on February 17, 1947, in Laurel, Mississippi to John Gilbert and Helen Churchwell Vann.  She retired from the mortgageand banking industry as a loan officer after twenty plus years of service.  Mrs. Polk was a Christian and a member of the Lone Star Methodist Church.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family members and friends

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Gilbert and Helen Churchwell Vann.

Survivors include her husband of twelve years, Douglas Polk of Collins; one  son, Brad Davis of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter, Nicole Barreto, and her husband, Marlon of Missouri City, Texas.; two step-sons, Jeffrey Michael Polk, and his wife, Rosalyn of Collins, and StephenDouglas Polk, and his wife, Beverly of Cumming, Georgia; one step daughter, Elizabeth "Libby" Polk Dennis, and her husband, Patrick of Collins; ten grandchildren, Brittany Nicole Barrett, Colin Riley Barreto, Mia Alexandria Barreto, Michael Anthony Davis, Gabby Rene Davis, Kaleigh Polk, Ashley Polk, Samuel Parkman Polk, Mack Crockett, and Kei Polk; and a host of cousins and friends.
