Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at the Salem Baptist Church in Collins for J.H. Riels, Sr., 88 of Collins, who passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at the Covington County Hospital in Collins.
Bro. Dennis Campbell will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins. Special music will be provided by Lori Schuler. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at the Salem Baptist Church, Salem Church Road, Collins, MS 39428.
Pallbearers will be Shane Knight, Mark Davis, Cody Keyes, Bennon Schuler, Robert Evans, and Kyle Davis.
Mr. Riels was born September 29, 1931, in Covington County, Mississippi. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, and brother. He served our country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Collins, Mississippi. He retired after thirty-eight years of service with the New Orleans Public Service.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Evelyn Cook Riels; parents, Barney Riels and Villa Gunner Riels; and one brother, John Osborne Riels.
Survivors include one daughter, Lisa Riels Carter and her husband, Scott of Collins; one son, J.H. Riels, Jr., and his wife Denise of Covington, Louisiana; two grandchildren, R.J. Costanza and his wife, Trish of Collins and Chris Hensley and his wife, Laurin of Sumrall; three great-grandchildren, Kris Wilson Costanza, Kole Riels Costanza, and Bronner Guilbert Hensley; one sister-in-law, Rosie Riels of Seminary; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
